NFC East Week 11 Power Rankings
So after another week in the NFL, the Power Rankings get a shakeup, especially in the NFC East.
After an exciting game between the Redskins, the Cowboys take the lead of the division and power rankings for the division, coming in at number 9. These Cowboys started off very poorly in the division, falling as low as 21 in the Power Rankings a few weeks ago, but have charged their way back up after 3 straight wins. And with a look to their next few games, the Cowboys may have some easy competition coming up with the Dolphins and the Cardinals. They could eventually host a very prominent position in the top 5 or 6 very soon if they keep on winning.
The New York football Giants come in at number 12 in the NFL, falling 5 spots from number 7 last week. This is very much in part to the Giants losing to the Eagles, who did not look very good a week ago coming after a loss from the Arizona Cardinals. But this Giants team is very resilient. No matter the odds, the Giants will be in every single game for the rest of the year, but it's going to come down to whether or not this offensive line can hold their opponent off of Eli and if the defensive line can continue to be dominant. Their next 3 games all come against hard opponents, but they might match up well against them. (More to come on this topic.)
The Eagles are the opposite of the Giants in that they are tied with the biggest leap this week. Jumping from 22 to 18, the Eagles showed how tough they were this week, defeating the pretty good New York Giants on almost every aspect of the game. When this Eagles team looks good, MAN do they look good, especially on their defense. They stopped an explosive offense last week, lead by Eli Manning and his talented wide receivers. Personally, I think this Eagles team deserves to be in the top 15, but their record definitely deserves to be held against them.
Although this Redskins team played a very hard and heartfelt game, a loss is a loss in the NFL Power Ranking Voters. So as this team falls to 3-7, its looking more and more depressing as the season rolls on. Their defense, which I think is the best part of this team, is slipping up in the second half of the games they play. It just isn't made for holding opponents to only 14 points per game. The offense needs to step it up in these games to give them a chance of winning and stop putting so much pressure on their defense to keep these scores low. The way they played against the Cowboys, they have so much potential, but it seems like they just can't keep their play up going into the second half. Quarterback issues have plagued them all year, but a new quarterback is now a free agent. Redskins: say hello to Mr. Kyle Orton. If the Redskins want to have a good couple of seasons in the future, they should definitely go and get him. It certainly wouldn't be much of a harm since, right now, you cant get much worse at the quarterback position.
